Is Gentle Yoga Right For Me?
<
>
There are many styles of yoga and it is important to find one that suits you. Classes at Gentle Movement Arts build strength, flexibility, balance, relaxation, and self-awareness. They include a combination of active postures in a standing or seated position as well as relaxing supported postures. The postures are made accessible to all through the use of props including walls, blankets, blocks, straps, and bolsters. While safety and moderation are primary concerns, care is also taken to make sure that all students are challenged in a way that is appropriate for them.
The only physical requirement for yoga classes at Gentle Movement Arts is that you be able to get up and down from the floor. Adult students of any age, fitness level, “stiffness” level, and body type, whether beginning or experienced, are welcome. Classes are small (12 student limit) so that postures can be adapted for individuals as needed. For example, in balancing postures, some students work with their backs to a wall for stability while others work freestanding. Students are encouraged to pay attention to how they feel in the postures and to speak up if they have concerns. Please contact Susan if you are uncertain whether Gentle Yoga is right for you.
